What this document is
“Solicitud de subsidio de desempleo” is the official form of Spain’s State Public Employment Service (SEPE) for claiming the unemployment allowance: support for people whose contributory benefit (paro) has run out or who did not contribute enough to get it. This edition is dated April 2026 and follows the allowance reform that applies to entitlements arising from 1 November 2024.
The same form is used to extend the allowance (prórroga), resume a suspended payment (reanudación) and combine it with part-time work. It includes an income declaration (declaración responsable de rentas) for the applicant, the spouse or partner and the children for the previous calendar month.
Who files and where
- people whose contributory benefit has ended (agotamiento), who lack enough contributions for it, who are over 52, returning emigrants, victims of gender-based or sexual violence — the ground is ticked at the top of the form;
- after the contributory benefit ends, the initial claim must be filed within six months; if filed within 15 working days, the allowance starts the day after the benefit ended;
- you must be registered with the employment service as a job seeker (demandante de empleo);
- the paper form is filed in person at an oficina de prestaciones by appointment (cita previa — via the SEPE e-office or by phone), at any public registry or by administrative post (correo administrativo); online claims go through the SEPE e-office without this form.
What the form asks
- type of application: initial on a given ground, extension, resumption or combination with work;
- personal details: given name, two surnames, DNI or NIE, Social Security number, date of birth, sex, nationality; for returning emigrants — country and period of work;
- home address and, if different, notification address; phones and e-mail; bank and IBAN of an account in the applicant’s name;
- last month’s income by type (work, pensions and benefits, capital, property, business activity, inheritances and sales) and non-income-generating assets — for the applicant, the spouse or partner and each child;
- date and place of filing, signature.
What to bring
- the completed and signed form;
- ID of the applicant and of the spouse or partner (foreigners — the document showing the NIE, TIE or passport);
- any bank document showing that you hold the account;
- the libro de familia or Civil Registry birth and marriage certificates; foreigners — equivalent documents with an official Spanish translation;
- the personal income tax (IRPF) return for the last tax year;
- depending on the case — a child’s disability certificate, foster care decision, divorce ruling, partnership registration, returnee certificate, form U1.
If something is missing, SEPE will request it in writing and give you 15 days. SEPE must decide within 15 days; if there is no answer after three months, the claim is deemed rejected.
How to fill it in with FoxDocs
- Tell the chat, in any language, why you lost your job, whether you received paro, who lives with you and what income you had last month.
- The assistant fills in the boxes in capitals, spreads the IBAN over the boxes, ticks the ground and repeats your name and NIE in the page headers. It does not add up the TOTAL boxes — you add them and write them by hand.
- Download the PDF, check it, sign it and file it with your documents.
