What this document is

"Comparecencia ante el SEPE tras la nueva inscripción como demandante de empleo" is a form of Spain’s State Public Employment Service (SEPE). With it, an unemployment benefit recipient declares that they are registered as a jobseeker (demandante de empleo) again and asks for the payment to resume.

Under Article 271.3 of the General Social Security Act (TRLGSS), whose text is printed on the form, payment is suspended while the person is not registered as a jobseeker and resumes from the date of the new registration — after appearing before SEPE with proof of registration, unless the suspension should continue or the benefit end.

Who files it and where

  • a benefit recipient whose payment was suspended because they stopped being registered as a jobseeker, and who has registered again;
  • the form is filed at a SEPE office — it has a space for the office stamp (Sello de la Unidad);
  • or through the registry of another public body — the form has a box for its stamp ("Registro en otro Organismo receptor").

Whether this can be done online and whether you need an appointment — check sepe.es or your local office.

What the form asks for

Given name, first and second surname, DNI or NIE number; the date from which you are registered as a jobseeker again; place and date of the appearance and your name under the signature. Document checks, remarks, the resumption date and the officer’s signature are filled in by SEPE.

What to bring

  • DNI, passport, TIE or the identity document of your home country;
  • your jobseeker registration document (tarjeta de la demanda de empleo).

This list is printed on the form itself. If SEPE asks for other documents, the form gives 15 days to provide them.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

Tell the chat from which day you are registered as a jobseeker again. The chat takes your name and NIE from your profile, sets today as the appearance date and fills in the official SEPE PDF without changing its layout.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need this form?

When your benefit payment was suspended because you stopped being registered as a jobseeker and you have now registered again. The form reports the new registration and asks for the benefit to resume.

From what date will payment resume?

Under Article 271.3 TRLGSS, from the date of the new jobseeker registration, unless the suspension should continue or the benefit end. SEPE writes the resumption date on the form.

Which date goes in "desde el día"?

The date from which you are registered as a jobseeker again, as shown on your registration document. It is not the date you file the form.

Which documents should I bring?

According to the form: DNI, passport, TIE or the identity document of your home country, and your jobseeker registration document (tarjeta de la demanda de empleo).

What if SEPE asks for more documents?

The form gives 15 days to provide them. Otherwise the application is archived, but you can file a new one as long as your right has not lapsed.

Can I file it somewhere other than SEPE?

The form has a box for the stamp of another public body’s registry, so filing through a registry is foreseen. Check in advance whether a particular registry accepts it.

Do I need a second surname?

Only if you have one. Most foreigners have a single surname — then the "2º apellido" box stays empty.
