What this document is
“Solicitud de ampliación del subsidio de desempleo” is the official form of Spain’s State Public Employment Service (SEPE) for extending an unemployment allowance granted without family responsibilities (sin responsabilidades familiares) once such responsibilities arise or are proven later. This edition dates from October 2026.
It contains an income declaration (declaración responsable de rentas) for the applicant, the spouse or partner and the children for the previous calendar month; SEPE uses it to check the family responsibilities.
Who files and where
- people granted the allowance after their contributory benefit ran out (agotamiento) without family responsibilities who prove them within 12 months of the benefit ending — the duration is extended according to the length of the exhausted benefit;
- people granted the allowance for insufficient contributions (cotización insuficiente) with six or more months contributed and no family responsibilities who prove them within 12 months of the legal unemployment situation — the duration is extended up to 21 months;
- the 12-month period cannot be extended for any reason, not even if you are working; the allowance must not have ended because an extension (prórroga) was not requested in time;
- if the allowance was granted with family responsibilities that were later lost, there is no right to the ampliación;
- the form is filed in person at the oficina de prestaciones by appointment (cita previa); online — through the SEPE e-office.
What the form asks
- which allowance was granted: after the contributory benefit ran out or for insufficient contributions;
- personal details: given name, two surnames, DNI or NIE, Social Security number, date of birth, sex, nationality; for returning emigrants, the country and period of work;
- home address and, if different, notification address; phones and e-mail; bank and IBAN of an account in the applicant’s name;
- last month’s income by type and assets without income for the applicant, the spouse or partner and each child (up to four);
- date and place of filing, signature.
What to bring
- the completed and signed form;
- ID of the applicant, spouse or partner and children (foreigners: document showing the NIE, TIE or passport);
- libro de familia or birth and marriage certificates from the Registro Civil; foreigners, equivalent documents with an official Spanish translation;
- a bank document showing you hold the account;
- where relevant: a child’s disability certificate, foster care decision (acogimiento), divorce judgment or convenio regulador, partnership registration, IRPF tax return.
If something is missing, SEPE will ask for it and give you 15 days. SEPE must decide within 15 days; with no answer after three months the application is deemed rejected. The extension applies from the date of the application.
How to fill it in with FoxDocs
