What this document is
EX-24 (“Solicitud de autorización de residencia temporal de familiares de personas con nacionalidad española (LO 4/2000 y RD 1155/2024)”) is the official Spanish form with which family members of a Spanish national apply for temporary residence. The form is in Spanish and has five pages: the application (pp. 1–2), instructions (p. 3), Annex I — the spouse’s or partner’s declaration (p. 4) and notes (p. 5).
Since RD 1155/2024 came into force (May 2025), family members of Spaniards as a rule apply under this national regime rather than for the EU family member card (EX-19). FoxDocs only types your values into the fields of the official PDF and does not change its layout.
Who files it and where
- a foreigner who is the spouse or registered/stable partner of a Spanish national, a child under 26 or with a disability, a dependent child over 26, a first-degree ascendant, the father, mother or guardian of a Spanish minor, a family carer up to the second degree, or certain other dependent relatives;
- the same form is used for renewal (RENOVACIÓN) and for independent residence when the right is retained — for example after the Spanish national’s death or departure, nullity, divorce or end of the partnership, or for victims of gender or sexual violence and trafficking;
- if the Spanish relative files, or the foreign national is already in Spain, it goes to the Oficina de Extranjería of the province of residence or electronically via the Mercurio sede electrónica; if the foreign national is abroad, to the Spanish consulate;
- according to the official hoja informativa 18 the procedure is free of charge — no form 790 fee is due for it; check any fee for issuing the TIE card with the police;
- a representative may submit the application — section 3 is filled in only if they are different from the applicant.
What the form asks for
- section 1 — the foreign national: passport, NIE (if any), surnames, name, sex (X/H/M), date of birth (dd/mm/aaaa), place and country of birth, nationality, civil status (S/C/V/D/Sp), father’s and mother’s names, address in Spain, mobile, e-mail and legal representative;
- section 2 — the Spanish national who grants the right: passport, DNI, surnames, name, sex, civil status, date and country of birth, parents’ names, address in Spain and relationship (parentesco);
- section 3 — representative for submission; section 4 — address for notifications and consent to electronic notifications via DEHú;
- section 5 — type of authorisation: RESIDENCIA INICIAL (ticking the family ground), RENOVACIÓN or RESIDENCIA INDEPENDIENTE when the right is retained;
- place, date, signature and the “Dirigida a” line — the office the application is addressed to;
- Annex I (p. 4) — sworn declaration by the spouse or partner that no other spouse or partner lives with them in Spain: personal data, place, date and signature.
Documents usually brought along
- the EX-24 form, original and a copy, filled in in capital letters; for a spouse or partner, also Annex I;
- the applicant’s passport, original and a copy of all pages;
- the Spanish national’s DNI or passport;
- proof of the family link: marriage or partnership certificate, birth certificate and, where needed, proof of dependency or care; foreign documents usually legalised or apostilled and translated;
- a criminal record certificate from each country where you lived in the last five years (other than Spain); no fee receipt is needed — the procedure is free;
- the exact list depends on the ground and the office — check in advance.
How to fill it in with FoxDocs
- Tell the chat in any language how you are related to the Spanish national and which authorisation you need: initial, renewal or independent.
- The assistant fills the boxes in capital letters, splits dates into dd/mm/aaaa and the NIE into letter, number and control letter, ticks the right boxes and fills in Annex I when needed.
- Download the PDF, check it, print, sign it by hand and submit it together with a copy.
