What this document is

EX-02 (“Solicitud de autorización de residencia temporal por reagrupación familiar (LO 4/2000 y RD 1155/2024)”) is the official Spanish form a foreign national legally living in Spain (reagrupante) uses to apply for a temporary residence permit for a family member (reagrupado). The form is in Spanish and has three pages: details of both people and the representative (p. 1), what is requested, signature and addressee (p. 2), instructions (p. 3).

The same form is used to renew a reunification permit, for the family member's independent residence (after divorce, the death of the reuniting person, on their own means and other cases in art. 69 RD 1155/2024) and for a work permit for a reunited parent. One form per family member. FoxDocs only types your details into the official PDF fields and does not change its layout.

Who files and where

  • the initial application is filed by the reuniting person, in person or through a representative, once they have lived in Spain for at least one year and have applied to reside for at least one more year (there are exceptions, e.g. long-term residents bringing their parents);
  • a renewal is filed by the family member — within two months before expiry or within three months after it;
  • where: the Oficina de Extranjería of the province where the applicant lives, usually by appointment (cita previa), or online through the Mercurio e-office;
  • fee: form 790, code 052 (heading 2.1.2 for the initial permit, 2.2.2 for renewal), payable within 10 working days of filing; check the amount on the official 790-052 form;
  • processing time: two months for an initial application (no answer means refusal), three months for a renewal (no answer means approval).

What the form asks

  • reuniting person: passport, NIE, surnames, given name, sex (X/H/M), date of birth (dd/mm/aaaa), place and country of birth, nationality, marital status (S/C/V/D/Sp), parents' names, address in Spain, phone, e-mail, the permit you hold, whether you have school-age children in Spain, and a legal representative;
  • family member: passport, NIE (if any), surnames, given name, sex, date, place and country of birth, nationality, marital status, parents' names and address in Spain if already living there;
  • section 2 — representative filing the application; section 3 — address for notifications and consent to electronic notifications via DEHú;
  • section 4 — the family member's relationship to you (11 options), type of permit (initial, renewal, independent, etc.), the ground for independent residence and whether other reunification applications are pending;
  • place, date, signature and the “Dirigida a” line — the authority the application is addressed to.

What to bring

  • the EX-02 form — original and a copy, filled in in capital letters;
  • a copy of the full passport of the reuniting person and of the family member;
  • proof of employment or means to support the family (contract and payslips, IRPF return or bank statements);
  • the regional report on adequate housing — no older than six months — and health insurance for the whole family;
  • proof of the family link (marriage or birth certificate, guardianship ruling); foreign documents legalised or apostilled with a sworn translation; for a spouse, a declaration that no other spouse lives with you in Spain;
  • the receipt for fee 790-052; the exact list depends on the case — check the official hoja informativa.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

  1. Tell the chat in any language who you are bringing and what you need: a first permit, a renewal or independent residence.
  2. The assistant fills in both people's details in capitals, splits dates into the dd/mm/aaaa boxes and the NIE into letter, number and check letter, and ticks the right boxes in section 4.
  3. Download the PDF, check it, print it, sign by hand and file it together with a copy.
