What this document is
“Declaración responsable de suficiencia de recursos. Investigadores y estudiantes (Directiva UE 2016/801)” is a template from Spain’s Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, section “Modelos de comunicaciones”. In it you declare on your own responsibility that you have enough means for yourself and, if applicable, your family for the whole period of the authorisation, and you list those means.
It is required by additional provision 17 of Law 14/2013: after completing higher education (at least level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework — a bachelor’s degree) a foreign national may stay in Spain for up to 24 months to look for a job matching their studies or to start a business project. Sufficient means are proven precisely by this itemised declaration. The ministry describes its templates as guidance, not mandatory; FoxDocs fills the fields of the ministry PDF and does not change its text.
Who files it and where
- a foreign national who has completed higher education in Spain on a study stay authorisation (the form title also names researchers);
- it goes with the application for the job-search or entrepreneurship authorisation — on form EX-26 this is the box citing “artículo 190.10” of RD 1155/2024;
- the application is filed electronically with the Delegación or Subdelegación del Gobierno of the province where you will live, within the last 60 days of your study authorisation or the 90 days after it ends;
- the form says the original and a copy are submitted.
