What this document is
MI-F («Movilidad internacional (Ley 14/2013) — Familiar — Solicitud de autorización de residencia») is the official Spanish form for a family member of a main applicant under Law 14/2013. It is processed by the Unidad de Grandes Empresas y Colectivos Estratégicos (UGE-CE) of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration (DIR3 code E04940103). The form is in Spanish, two pages: the application and the instructions.
The main applicant files their own MI-T form and each family member files a separate MI-F. FoxDocs only types your data into the fields of the official PDF and does not change its layout.
Who files it and where
- the spouse, partner, child under 18, dependent child over 18 or dependent parent of the main applicant;
- the main applicant is an entrepreneur, a highly qualified professional (including EU Blue Card), a researcher, an intra-company transferee, an audiovisual worker or an international teleworker (digital nomad);
- the «family of an investor» box is still on the form, but since 3 April 2025 Ley Orgánica 1/2025 removed the investor category from Law 14/2013; no new initial applications are filed under it;
- filed online only, through the ministry's sede electrónica (Law 39/2015); the fee is paid with form modelo 790 código 038, section «Punto 7» (Ley 14/2013), and its NRC number goes on the form; check the amount on the official website.
What the form asks
- whose family member you are: the main applicant's Law 14/2013 category;
- type of permit: INICIAL (family visa, living outside Spain, stay or residence permit in Spain, child born in Spain), RENOVADA or PRORROGADA to look for work (researcher's family);
- applicant: passport, NIE, surnames, first name, place of birth, sex (H/M), marital status (S/C/V/D/Sp/Uh), date of birth (dd/mm/aaaa), country, nationality, parents' names, address in Spain, country of residence outside Spain, phone, e-mail, legal representative;
- relationship: spouse, partner, child under 18, dependent child over 18, dependent parent;
- the family member who gives the right: registration number of their application, passport, NIE, surnames and first name;
- the person authorised to file (needs a digital certificate), the fee NRC, place and date of signing.
What is usually attached
- the completed and signed MI-F form;
- the family member's passport — a copy of all pages;
- proof of the relationship: marriage, partnership registration or birth certificate, usually legalised or apostilled and translated;
- for adult children and parents — proof that they are dependent;
- the receipt for the modelo 790-038 fee (NRC);
- the exact list depends on the category — check it on the official website before filing.
How to fill it in with FoxDocs
- Tell the chat, in any language, how you are related to the main applicant, under which category they hold their permit, and whether this is an initial application or a renewal.
- The assistant fills the fields in capitals, splits dates into dd/mm/aaaa boxes and the NIE into letter, number and check letter, and ticks the right boxes.
- Download the PDF, check it, sign it and attach it to the online application at the sede electrónica.
