What this document is

“Solicitud prestación especial por desempleo para las personas trabajadoras del sector artístico…” is the official form of Spain’s State Public Employment Service (SEPE). It is used to claim the special unemployment benefit for people working in the performing arts, audiovisual and music sectors, and for technical and auxiliary staff in those activities.

The benefit was created by Real Decreto-ley 1/2023 (additional provision 51 of the General Social Security Law). It lasts 120 days and pays 80 % of the monthly IPREM, or 100 % if the average daily contribution base over the last 60 days of work exceeded 60 euros.

Who applies and where

  • an employed cultural worker whose work has ended (legal unemployment) and who has no right to the ordinary contributory benefit;
  • 60 days registered with Social Security with real artistic work in the 18 months before unemployment, or 180 days in the previous six years;
  • you must be registered as a job seeker and below the ordinary retirement age (with the exceptions SEPE lists);
  • if you have received this benefit before, at least one year must have passed since it ended;
  • apply within 15 working days of losing the job; if late, the benefit runs from the filing date and the late days are lost;
  • submit through the SEPE e-office (sede electrónica) or in person at a benefits office by appointment (cita previa).

What the form asks

Type of application (first claim, resumption, or choosing this benefit instead of a suspended ordinary one), personal details with DNI or NIE and Social Security number, home address and, if different, a notification address, phones and e-mail, bank and IBAN of an account in your name. Separate boxes are for Spanish emigrants returning to Spain. Page two holds the place, date and signature; the document table and remarks are filled in by SEPE staff.

What to bring

  • DNI, passport or TIE; foreigners — the document showing the NIE (EU citizens — certificado de registro);
  • proof that the payment account is yours;
  • the certificado de empresa from your employer;
  • if a representative submits — a document proving the representation and your consent.

If SEPE asks for documents, you have 15 days to provide them. SEPE must decide within 15 days; if there is no answer after three months, the claim is deemed rejected.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

Tell the chat about yourself and when your work ended. FoxDocs writes the answers into the official PDF without changing its layout: the IBAN is split into boxes, your name and NIE are repeated in the page-two header, the signing date gets the month in Spanish. You only sign and submit it to SEPE.

Frequently asked questions

Who can get this benefit?

Employed workers in the performing arts, audiovisual and music sectors, plus technical and auxiliary staff in those activities, when they have no right to the ordinary contributory benefit.

How much work do I need?

60 days registered with Social Security with real artistic work in the 18 months before losing the job, or 180 days in the previous six years.

How long does it last and how much is it?

120 days. The amount is 80 % of the monthly IPREM, or 100 % if the average daily contribution base over the last 60 days of work was above 60 euros.

What is the deadline?

Within 15 working days of losing the job. You can apply later, but the benefit then starts on the filing date and the late days are lost.

Can I work while receiving it?

No: it is incompatible with employed or self-employed work and with other benefits and social payments. It is compatible with income from intellectual property and image rights.

What does “Opción por prestación contributiva anterior” mean?

If you have a suspended ordinary contributory benefit, you can choose between resuming it and taking this special benefit. Choosing the special one ends the ordinary benefit.

Can the benefit be paid into someone else’s account?

No. The form states that the applicant must be the holder of the account receiving the benefit.

Who fills in the document table on page two?

SEPE staff: they mark which documents were checked, received or requested. The applicant does not fill in this table.
