What this document is

The “Solicitud de variación padronal” is the official Ayuntamiento de Mijas sheet for entering the municipal register of residents (Padrón Municipal de Habitantes) and for any change to it. The same sheet covers registration (alta), a move within Mijas, a change of personal data, renewal of a foreigner’s registration and deregistration when leaving Spain.

The sheet is in Spanish, landscape A4: the front is filled in — one home and up to four people; the back has instructions, the list of documents and the education level codes.

Who files it and where

  • anyone who lives permanently in Mijas (Mijas Pueblo, La Cala, Las Lagunas), foreigners included;
  • in person at the town hall citizen service offices by appointment (cita previa) — Casco Antiguo, La Cala, Las Lagunas — or through the town hall Registro Electrónico, attached to a general application (Solicitud Genérica);
  • every adult signs the sheet; legal guardians sign for children;
  • non-EU foreigners without permanent residence must renew their registration every two years — this is printed on the form itself.

What the form asks

  • home address: street type and name, number, bis, block, entrance, staircase, floor, door, postcode and two phone numbers;
  • for each person: given name and two surnames, what is requested (one of eight reasons), where they come from or are moving to, nationality, province or country and town of birth, date of birth, sex;
  • type of ID (DNI, passport, residence card, family book), its number and an education level code;
  • the name and ID number of an adult already registered at the home, if they consent to your registration.

What to bring

  • the completed and signed sheet; originals and copies of all documents;
  • ID for everyone: Spaniards — DNI (mandatory from 14); foreigners — passport, NIE or EU registration certificate (the certificate only together with the passport); children — libro de familia or birth certificate;
  • proof of the home: escritura, IBI receipt or nota del Registro de la Propiedad, or a valid rental contract;
  • if several people register — the collective certificate authorisation form (Anexo 1); people arriving from abroad — the declaration (Anexo 2); both are on the town hall page;
  • if someone is already registered at the home — their signature on the sheet or a written authorisation and a copy of their ID.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

  2. The assistant fills in the boxes in capitals, ticks the reason, sex and ID type and enters the education code.
  3. Download the PDF, check it, print it, have every adult sign it and file it with the town hall.

Frequently asked questions

Why register (empadronamiento) in Mijas?

It is the entry in the municipal register of residents. Everyone living in Spain must be registered in the municipality where they live; the registration certificate is often required for a health card, school and immigration procedures.

Where do I file the sheet?

In person at the town hall citizen service offices by cita previa (Casco Antiguo, La Cala, Las Lagunas), or online through the town hall Registro Electrónico attached to a Solicitud Genérica.

How many people fit on one sheet?

Up to four at the same address. If there are more people, fill in another sheet.

Can I register if someone is already registered at the home?

Yes: the adult already registered there who holds the housing document signs the sheet or gives written authorisation, with a copy of their ID.

What if I have no document for the home?

The town hall has a separate form for registration without a housing document; it then checks by other means that you live there.

Do I need to renew the registration?

Yes, non-EU foreigners without permanent residence every two years, otherwise the entry may lapse. Tick “Renovación Extranjeros” on this same sheet.

How much does it cost?

The town hall page does not mention a fee for registration. Check when you book the appointment.
