What this document is

TA.2/T (“Solicitud de alta, baja o variación de datos del trabajador/a por cuenta ajena — a instancia del trabajador/a”) is an official form of Spain’s General Social Security Treasury (TGSS). With it an employee reports that they started work (alta), stopped working (baja) or that their data changed, when the employer was obliged to report it and did not. The same form is used to cancel a wrong alta or baja.

Normally the employer reports this — on form TA.2/S or online. TA.2/T is for when the employer did not: the employee may request the alta or baja directly (Real Decreto 84/1996, art. 29.1.2º). An alta the employer failed to request on time can be requested at any time after the failure is noticed, and TGSS informs the Labour Inspectorate of such requests (art. 32.3.1º).

Who files it and where

  • the employee files it (or their legal representative, who then signs);
  • it is addressed to a TGSS Provincial Directorate or Administración, named at the bottom of page 1;
  • the form is printed, signed and handed in at TGSS or through any official registry;
  • you may enclose documents proving the job — the form has three lines for them.

What the form asks

  • the worker: surnames and name, Social Security number (NSS), date of birth, identity document, address in separate boxes, e-mail and mobile;
  • what you ask for — alta, baja, data change or cancellation of a wrong alta/baja, the date and a detailed reason;
  • what you know about the employer: name, scheme, contribution account code (CCC), last known address;
  • for alta or a change — employment data: contract type, contribution group or job category, job description, part-time hours, replacement.

What to bring

  • identity document (DNI, foreigner card with NIE; passport only for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and only for alta);
  • proof of the job: employment contract, payslips (nóminas), messages or a letter from the employer;
  • proof of representation, if a legal representative files it.

Check the exact list for your case with TGSS. If something is missing, TGSS asks you to complete the application within 10 days (the “Subsanación” block on page 3).

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

Tell the chat where and since when you work and what the employer failed to do. FoxDocs asks only what is needed, words the reason in Spanish, splits the date and address into boxes and repeats the NSS, CCC, request type and date on the receipt on page 3. Section 4 is asked only for alta or a data change. Values are printed in capitals, as the form’s instructions require.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need TA.2/T rather than TA.2/S?

TA.2/S is filed by the employer. TA.2/T is filed by the employee when the employer has not filed the alta, baja or data change.

Can I file if my employer never registered me?

Yes. Real Decreto 84/1996 (art. 32.3.1º) lets the employee file at any time after learning that the employer did not register them on time. TGSS informs the Labour Inspectorate.

What should I write as the reason (2.2)?

As much detail as possible: where and since when you work and what exactly the employer failed to do (e.g. the company closed without filing the baja). FoxDocs words it in Spanish.

I do not know the employer’s CCC or scheme. Is that a problem?

No. The form’s instructions ask only for the employer details you know. The CCC is often on the payslip (nómina).

I have no Social Security number yet. What now?

First get a number with form TA.1 (afiliación / asignación de número), then file TA.2/T.

Can I use a passport without an NIE?

The form accepts a passport only from EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and only for alta; the NIE must be obtained within 3 months of entry. Everyone else needs a foreigner card with an NIE.

How long does a decision take?

According to the form, up to 45 days from registration; the period can be suspended if TGSS asks for more documents. Without a reply in that time the request may be deemed granted.

Do I fill in page 3?

FoxDocs repeats the NSS, CCC, request type and date there. The grey boxes and “Subsanación y/o mejora requerida” are for TGSS.
