What this document is

The “Hoja de inscripción o modificación en el Padrón Municipal de Habitantes” is the official form of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city council for registering your residence (empadronamiento), changing address within the city or correcting personal details. It is in Spanish, two landscape A4 pages: the first is filled in, the second holds instructions, education codes, the list of documents and legal information.

One sheet takes up to three people living at the same address. FoxDocs only types your data into the fields of the official PDF and does not change its layout.

Who submits it and where

  • everyone living in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, foreigners included: when moving from another town or country, changing address within the city, after a birth, if never registered before (omisión) or when personal details change;
  • in person at council offices with an appointment (cita previa); online through the council e-office (sede electrónica) with a digital certificate, electronic DNI or Cl@ve;
  • every adult on the sheet signs it: by hand in person, with an electronic signature online;
  • non-EU foreigners without permanent residence must renew the registration every two years;
  • according to the form, the council decides within three months at most; check any fee and current conditions on the council website.

What the form asks

  • home address: street type and name, number, letter, block, entrance, staircase, floor, door, cadastral reference;
  • for each resident: given name, two surnames, document type and number (DNI, passport, residence card), date and place of birth, sex, education code, nationality, phone, e-mail;
  • reason: move from another town or country, change of address in the city, omisión, birth, change of details — and where you come from;
  • voluntary consent for adults on the sheet to report changes and obtain certificates;
  • the “Autorización de empadronamiento”, “Autorización padres/representantes legales” and “Declaración de residencia” blocks, the list of documents presented and the line “En Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a … de … de 20…”.

What to bring

  • the completed and signed sheet;
  • a valid ID for each person: DNI, residence card or passport; EU citizens — registration certificate with NIE together with the passport;
  • a housing document: rental contract with the last rent receipt, deed of sale, nota simple, or IBI / water or electricity bill with proof of payment — showing the cadastral reference;
  • for children — the libro de familia or birth record; if only one parent registers the child — the other parent’s consent;
  • documents not in Spanish need an official translation; non-EU foreign documents need an apostille; originals only, no photocopies.

Frequently asked questions

Why register in the padrón?

The padrón is the municipal register of residents. It proves where you live; the registration certificate is often requested for a health card, school and immigration procedures.

Can I submit the sheet online?

Yes, through the council e-office with a digital certificate, electronic DNI or Cl@ve. Without them — in person at a council office with an appointment.

How many people fit on one sheet?

Up to three. For more residents, fill in another sheet and number them: “Hoja 1 de 2”, “Hoja 2 de 2”.

What if the rental contract is not in my name?

The owner or tenant fills in and signs the “Autorización de empadronamiento” block and provides their housing document.

Does the registration need renewing?

Non-EU foreigners without permanent residence renew it every two years; otherwise the entry may lapse.

How is a child registered?

You need the libro de familia or birth record, and both parents sign the sheet. If the child does not live with the parents, the parent or guardian consent block is filled in.
