What this document is

The “Hoja padronal” is the official form of Benalmádena town hall (province of Málaga) for applying to be registered in the municipal register of residents (Padrón Municipal de Habitantes). It covers Benalmádena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Costa.

The sheet is in Spanish, two landscape A4 pages: the first is filled in, the second holds the legal notes, instructions, education codes and the list of documents. One sheet takes up to four people living at the same address. FoxDocs enters your data into the fields of the official PDF and does not change its layout.

Who files it and where

Everyone who lives in Benalmádena, including foreigners. Any individual can apply, at any time.

According to the town hall’s e-office there are two ways to apply: in person at the registry offices (oficinas de asistencia en materia de registros) with original documents, or online at sede.benalmadena.es with a digital certificate — attaching scans of the originals, not of photocopies. All documents must be in Spanish. The decision period is 3 months; if the town hall does not answer, the application is deemed approved.

What the form asks

  • Home address: street, number, block or entrance, staircase, floor, door, postcode and (optionally) a landline.
  • For each person: given name and both surnames, sex, date, province and place of birth, nationality, identity document number, education code.
  • Where they are moving from: province or consulate, town or country.
  • Optionally a mobile phone and e-mail; the number of people on the sheet.
  • If someone is already registered at the home — the name and document of the person authorising.

What to bring

  • The completed and signed sheet: every adult listed signs it.
  • A valid identity document: DNI, passport or residence card; EU citizens — the EU registration certificate with their passport or national ID; with a NIE certificate — together with the passport.
  • Children under 14 — the libro de familia or a birth certificate.
  • Proof of the home: title of ownership (escritura, purchase contract, land registry extract) or a current rental contract with the latest rent receipt showing that the payment is for this home.
  • For minors, the legal representatives sign and show their ID; where relevant, proof of custody and a responsible declaration.
  • If you join people already registered there — the authorisation and a copy of the authoriser’s ID.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

Tell the chat in any language who is registering and at what address. The assistant asks for what is missing, splits the address and surnames into the right boxes, writes the country in Spanish and the education code. Download the PDF, print it, sign and submit it to the town hall.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply online?

Yes. According to sede.benalmadena.es the “Alta en Padrón Municipal” procedure can be done online with a digital certificate — attaching scans of the original documents — or in person at the town hall registry offices.

How many people fit on one sheet?

Up to four people living at the same address. A larger family fills in another sheet.

What goes into “Provincia Nacimiento” and “Municipio/País Nacimiento”?

If born in Spain — the province and town of birth. If born abroad, the province is left empty and “Municipio/País” takes the country in Spanish, e.g. REINO UNIDO.

What is the code in “Nivel Estudios”?

The code of completed education from the table on the back of the form: for example 46 — university degree, 48 — master’s or doctorate, 42 — Bachillerato, 0 — a child under 16.

Someone is already registered in the flat. What is needed?

According to the form’s instructions, an adult registered at the home who holds a document for it (ownership or rental) fills in and signs the authorisation section. A copy of their ID is attached.

How long does the decision take?

According to sede.benalmadena.es — up to 3 months; if the town hall does not reply in time, the application is deemed approved.

Do I need to renew my registration?

According to the form, non-EU foreigners without permanent residence must renew their registration every two years, otherwise it lapses. The town hall has a separate procedure for the renewal.
