What this document is

The “Solicitud de reconocimiento o de revisión del grado de discapacidad” is the Generalitat de Catalunya application to have a disability degree recognised or reviewed (procedure 8726, model IM 16763 V1-25; the Catalan version is IM 15220). After an assessment at a CAD centre, a resolution states the degree as a percentage.

With a degree of 33% or more, a person living in Catalonia can access resources and benefits for people with disabilities. The recognition is valid throughout Spain from the date of application, provided a degree of at least 33% is then recognised. The official form is an interactive Adobe form (XFA); FoxDocs reproduces its pages and writes your data into the same boxes.

Who files it and where

  • people with a disability living in Catalonia — themselves or through a representative (parent, guardian, assistant, legal or voluntary representative; a residential centre with an authorisation);
  • an initial assessment can be requested at any time; a review two years after the last resolution, or earlier after significant changes or an error affecting the degree;
  • online at tramits.gencat.cat (digital certificate or idCAT Mòbil), in person by appointment at a citizen service office, or at any official registry;
  • the procedure is free.

What the form asks

  • initial assessment or review (worsening, improvement, new conditions);
  • the person’s details: name, two surnames, document (DNI, NIE, foreign ID card or passport), CatSalut card CIP code, gender, date of birth, contacts, registered address with comarca;
  • if someone else or an organisation files — their details, address, relationship, REPRESENTA registration;
  • contact person, type of disability and diagnoses, earlier recognition in another region, referring service;
  • who to call for the assessment appointment, attached documents, electronic notifications, place and date, data protection consent.

Documents usually needed

  • medical and/or psychological reports from the last two years supporting the disability;
  • the resolution on the degree from another autonomous community, if it was recognised there;
  • for a representative not registered in REPRESENTA — proof of representation: power of attorney, court ruling, family book for parents of a minor, etc.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

  1. Tell the chat, in any language, about the person, their address and diagnoses; if you file for them, about yourself.
  2. The assistant ticks the right boxes, translates the diagnoses into Spanish and lists the documents for you.
  3. Download the PDF, check it, print, sign and file it together with the medical reports.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the recognition cost?

Nothing: the Generalitat procedure page states it is free.

When can I ask for a review?

Two years after the last resolution. Earlier if your situation has changed significantly or there is an error in the recognised degree.

What happens after I apply?

The CAD centre sends a letter with the assessment date. Bring your latest medical, psychological and social reports. The resolution arrives by registered mail one or two months after the assessment.

How long can the decision legally take?

Six months from the date the application enters the Department’s registry (art. 9 of Royal Decree 888/2022). If there is no answer by then, the application is deemed rejected.

Is a Catalan degree valid in other regions?

Yes, the recognition is valid throughout Spain from the date of application, provided a degree of at least 33% is recognised.

What if I disagree with the resolution?

File a claim (reclamación) within 30 days from the day after you receive it. If you still disagree, you can take the case to the social court.

Do I need to apply separately for the disability card?

No: the card is issued automatically and posted to the address in the application, about three months after the resolution.
