What this document is

«Sol·licitud d'extinció de la inscripció de parella estable» is the application to the Departament de Justícia of the Generalitat de Catalunya stating that a stable couple has ended and its entry in the Catalonia stable couples registry must be cancelled (tràmit 21032, «Extingir la parella estable»).

The official form is an interactive Adobe (XFA) form in Catalan that only opens in Adobe Reader; FoxDocs reproduces its pages for filing in person and writes your data into the same boxes.

Who applies and where

  • one partner files it: the form holds that partner’s details and address, the other partner’s details and one signature;
  • the ground is one of four: end of cohabitation, death or declaration of death of one partner, marriage of either partner, or the will of one partner formally notified to the other;
  • if the couple ends by mutual agreement in a notarial deed, the notary sends the deed to the registry — this form is not needed;
  • in person at any Generalitat office with document registration (filter «Registre de documentació i digitalització» in the office finder) or at the places listed in art. 16.4 of Law 39/2015; by post in an open envelope so the clerk can date and stamp it;
  • online through the Tràmits gencat portal; it can be filed at any time and is free.

What the form asks

  • applicant: given name, two surnames, document type and number (DNI, NIE, passport or foreign ID card), phones and e-mail (at least one way of contact), address;
  • consent to electronic notifications and contacts for them;
  • the other partner: given name, surnames, document type and number;
  • the ground; for marriage, details of the partner who married and place and date of the marriage; for death, the deceased’s date of birth and place of death;
  • objection to the automatic data check, list of attached documents, place and date.

Documents usually needed

  • the applicant’s identity document;
  • for end of cohabitation, a collective padrón certificate from the town hall showing the other partner is no longer registered at your address (the form says: issued within the last three months);
  • for death, the death certificate; for marriage, the marriage certificate from the Registro Civil;
  • for a unilateral decision, proof of the content of the letter to the other partner and proof of its delivery;
  • if you do not object to the data check, the Department obtains some data itself — the chat tells you what to attach for your ground.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

Frequently asked questions

How much does removal from the registry cost?

Nothing: the Generalitat procedure page states it is free.

Do we both have to apply?

No. One partner fills in and signs the form; the other partner’s details go in a separate section.

Which grounds can be given?

End of cohabitation with breakdown of the shared life, death or declaration of death of one partner, marriage of either partner, or the will of one partner formally notified to the other.

We are ending it by agreement before a notary. Do we need this form?

No. According to the procedure page, when the end is agreed in a notarial deed the notary sends the deed to the registry.

What do we attach if we have simply split up?

A collective padrón certificate from the town hall confirming that the other partner is no longer registered at your address. Whether it is mandatory in your case depends on the data-check tick and your address — the chat will tell you.

How long does the decision take?

According to the procedure page, the decision is notified to the partners at the given address within two months of filing at the latest.

Can the decision be appealed?

It ends the administrative route, but within one month you can file a recurso de reposición with the Director General for Law and Legal Entities of the Departament de Justícia.
