What this document is

The “Impreso de escrito de alegaciones / recurso de reposición” is the official form of Spain’s Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) for contesting a traffic fine.

One form covers two filings: an objection (escrito de alegaciones) against an offence notice before any penalty decision, and an appeal (recurso de reposición) against a penalty decision already issued. The form is in Spanish, one page; FoxDocs enters your data into the official PDF without changing its layout.

Who files it and where

  • the person who received the DGT fine notice (driver or vehicle owner), in person or through a representative;
  • objection — within 20 calendar days from the day after you receive the notice; appeal — within one month of receiving the decision;
  • paper form — by post to the Jefatura de Tráfico handling the case or to the Centro de Tratamiento de Denuncias Automatizadas (CTDA, Apartado de Correos 505, 24080 León), or in person at a Jefatura or Oficina de Tráfico;
  • filing is free; an objection forfeits the 50% early-payment discount, and if it is rejected the full fine is due;
  • online on sede.dgt.gob.es (Cl@ve, electronic DNI or certificate) the objection is filed without this form.

What the form asks

  • offence details: case number (12 digits from the letter header), date, road or street, kilometre point, registration, make and model, description of the offence;
  • type of filing: objection or appeal;
  • appellant: two surnames, given name, DNI/NIE/CIF, address, town, province, postcode, phone, e-mail;
  • grounds (expone) — up to 15 lines;
  • place and date; the signature is handwritten.

What to bring

  • the signed form;
  • a copy of the fine notice or decision;
  • evidence for your grounds: photos, sale or rental contract of the vehicle, tickets, certificates;
  • if a representative files — proof of representation (DGT has its own representation form);
  • check the exact list on the DGT website for your case.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

  1. Tell the chat in any language what the fine is and why you disagree, with the DGT letter at hand.
  2. The assistant copies the letter details, ticks the filing type and writes your grounds in Spanish.
  3. Download the PDF, check it, print, sign and send it to DGT.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an objection and an appeal?

An objection (alegaciones) is filed against the offence notice while no penalty decision exists. An appeal (recurso de reposición) is filed against a penalty decision already issued. Same form; the type is ticked in section 3.

What are the deadlines?

According to DGT: objection — 20 calendar days from the day after receiving the notice; appeal — one month from receiving the decision.

Do I keep the 50% discount?

No. Filing an objection waives the 50% early-payment discount; if the objection is rejected, the full fine is due.

How much does it cost?

Filing objections and appeals with DGT is free of charge.

Where do I send the form?

By post to the Jefatura de Tráfico handling the case or to CTDA (Apartado de Correos 505, 24080 León), or in person at a Jefatura or Oficina de Tráfico.

Where do I find the case number?

The case number (nº de expediente) is the 12 digits in the header of the DGT fine letter. Without it your filing cannot be matched to the case.

Can I file without the form?

Yes, online on sede.dgt.gob.es with Cl@ve, an electronic DNI or a certificate. The form is for paper filing.
