How to fill in Departure (non-resident) declaration: your options

FoxDocs is one of several ways. Choose the one that suits your case.

  • Official route

    Submission: Paying source in Brazil or whoever requested the declaration. Agency: Federal Revenue Service of Brazil (Receita Federal). It publishes the form and the requirements — check them before you submit. If the agency runs its own online service, it may be the most direct way.

  • Fill in the PDF yourself

    Download the official form and fill it in by hand or in a PDF editor. It costs nothing; you work out every field, date format and script on your own.

  • Through an agent or intermediary

    A agent or lawyer fills in and often submits the document for you. Their fee applies; it helps when the case is complicated or you need someone to represent you.

  • With FoxDocs

    Cards with a hint for every field, in your language, or data from a photo of a document. Every value appears in its place on the original form, and you download the PDF. Filling the form yourself is free; the chat assistant and the AI check are priced per document. FoxDocs does not submit the document and does not give legal advice.

What this document is

The Declaração de Saída Definitiva do País (on the Receita Federal site: "Declaração Simples de Saída do Brasil", version 1.1) is a one-page form of Brazil's Federal Revenue Service. Under penalty of law you state the date you left Brazil for good, from which you are a non-resident for income tax.

In the text of the form you also confirm that, under art. 3 § 2 and art. 10 § 1 of Instrução Normativa SRF No. 208/2002, you must inform paying sources in Brazil of your non-resident status so that tax is withheld under the non-resident rules.

The electronic Comunicação de Saída Definitiva do País and the departure return (DSDP) in the income tax program are separate Receita Federal procedures; this form does not replace them.

Who files it and where

  • a person who has left Brazil for good and become a non-resident for tax;
  • the form is signed by hand and given to whoever asked you to confirm non-resident status (for example a paying source in Brazil); the official page of the form names no filing channel;
  • the form states no fee or deadline.

What the form asks

  • full name and nationality;
  • CPF, if you have one;
  • identity document number (RG, RNE, CRNM, passport etc.);
  • date of permanent departure;
  • optional: address and country abroad, e-mail or phone;
  • place and date, handwritten signature.

What to bring

  • the identity document whose number you give;
  • proof of the departure date (passport stamp, ticket), if requested;
  • your CPF number, if you have one.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

  1. Answer the chat questions: name, nationality, document, departure date and, if you wish, contacts abroad.
  2. Check the values on the cards: dates print as DD/MM/YYYY, countries in Portuguese.
  3. Download the PDF, sign it by hand and hand it in where it was requested.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fill in Departure (non-resident) declaration online?

Yes. FoxDocs fills in the original “Departure (non-resident) declaration” form online: answer cards with hints (or add a photo of a document), check the values on the form and download the PDF. You submit it yourself: Paying source in Brazil or whoever requested the declaration.

What does this declaration confirm?

That you left Brazil for good on the stated date and from then on are a non-resident for income tax. It is your own statement; the status is formally recorded by the electronic Comunicação de Saída Definitiva and the DSDP return.

Is it the same as the Comunicação de Saída Definitiva?

No. The electronic Comunicação de Saída Definitiva and the DSDP return are separate Receita Federal procedures; this form does not replace them.

Do I need a CPF?

No. The form asks for the CPF "se houver" — only if you have one.

Which document should I give?

The number of one identity document: RG, RNE, CRNM, passport and so on.

Must I give an address abroad?

No, the "Contato no exterior" section is marked optional on the form.

Why inform paying sources?

The form reminds you that under IN SRF 208/2002 a non-resident informs paying sources in Brazil of the status so tax is withheld under the non-resident rules.

Does it need a signature?

Yes, the declaration is signed by hand after printing.
