What this document is
A sponsorship letter in which the main holder of a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) — or another person who supports the family — confirms that he or she will financially support a spouse or children under 20 who apply for a DTV as dependants.
There is no government form for this letter: the DTV is applied for only online through the Thai e-Visa system, and Thai embassies do not publish a template. This is an unofficial template prepared by FoxDocs. It only states the facts you enter yourself.
When it is used
Thai embassies list three DTV purposes: workcation (remote work, freelancing), Thai soft-power activities, and spouse and children under 20 of DTV holders. For every purpose, the checklists ask for financial evidence of no less than 500,000 THB, for example bank statements for the last 3 months or a sponsorship letter. Dependants also show the DTV of the main holder and proof of the relationship.
What the letter contains
- the Thai embassy or consulate-general handling the e-Visa, place and date;
- the sponsor's name, nationality, date of birth, passport and contacts;
- the sponsor's visa status: DTV granted, DTV application in process, or another visa;
- up to three dependants: name, relationship, date of birth, nationality, passport number;
- a statement of financial support during the stay, the period of stay and the address in Thailand;
- a summary of the financial evidence: bank, account holder, balance and date;
- a list of enclosed documents and the sponsor’s signature.
What to attach
- bank statements for the last 3 months (balance of at least 500,000 THB or the equivalent, as required by your embassy);
- a copy of the sponsor's passport and DTV or e-Visa approval;
- proof of relationship: marriage, birth or adoption certificate (translation or legalisation if the embassy asks for it);
- proof of income, if your embassy requires it.
Requirements, amounts in local currency and translation rules differ between embassies (for example, Brussels asks for 15,000 EUR). Check the e-Visa page of your embassy before applying.
