What this document is

A foreign national who holds or held work permits in Thailand can ask the Department of Employment for an official letter certifying the work permits granted (หนังสือรับรองใบอนุญาตทำงาน, “Work Permit Certification Letter”). Such a letter is typically requested for a visa application, for a permanent residence application at the Immigration Bureau, or for other purposes.

The official form of the Department of Employment consists of a list of required documents, the request letter itself (Thai and English) and a power of attorney for the case when someone else collects the certificate. FoxDocs fills in the letter and, if needed, the power of attorney.

Who files it and where

  • the foreign national personally — the letter must be signed by the foreigner;
  • it is addressed to the Director of the Bangkok Employment Office (by area) or to the Director of the Provincial Employment Office;
  • which office to apply to and how the request is accepted — check with the Employment Office that issued your work permits.

What the letter asks for

  • your address in Thailand, phone and the date of the letter (Buddhist Era year, พ.ศ.);
  • name as in the passport, nationality, passport number and work permit number;
  • the date from which you have been permitted to work, your position and employer;
  • the purpose: visa application (for whom and where), permanent residence application at the Immigration Bureau, or other;
  • a list of attachments with the number of sheets;
  • the power of attorney (optional): grantee, their position, office and its address.

Documents to attach

  1. the request letter signed by the foreign national;
  2. certified copies of all work permits granted — every page that contains entries;
  3. a certified copy of the passport — the biodata page and the page with the latest Thai visa;
  4. a power of attorney, if the foreign national does not collect the certificate in person;
  5. the original ID card of the authorised person (shown to the officer).

The form does not state fees or processing time — check them with the Employment Office.

How to fill it in with FoxDocs

  1. Answer the chat questions about yourself, your work permit and the purpose of the certificate.
  2. The assistant fills the fields in Latin letters, marks the purpose and converts the year to พ.ศ.
  3. If someone else will collect the certificate, the assistant also fills in the power of attorney.
  4. Download the PDF, check it, sign by hand (the power of attorney also needs a 10-baht duty stamp and two witnesses).
