What this document is

WP.44 (บต.44) is a foreigner’s request to the Department of Employment (DOE), Ministry of Labour, to change the particulars (เปลี่ยนรายการ) recorded in his or her work permit — for example, when the employer’s address or the place of work has changed, or the holder’s name or other details have changed.

The form is bilingual (Thai and English) and has 3 pages: page 1 — details of the foreigner, the work permit, the address in Thailand, the employer and the place of work; page 2 — what to change, to what and why, the list of attachments and the signature; page 3 — for official use only.

Who files it and where

  • a foreigner who holds a valid Thai work permit whose particulars need to be changed;
  • the request is filed with the Department of Employment: in Bangkok — at the DOE foreign workers division or a Bangkok employment office, in the provinces — at the provincial employment office; check with the DOE which office handles your permit;
  • the fee and processing time are not stated on the form — check with the office.

What the form asks

  • title, name, nationality, type of foreigner;
  • work permit number, province and date of issue, validity;
  • address in Thailand, telephone, fax, e-mail;
  • employer’s name and address, address of the place of work;
  • what exactly to change (“from” and “to”) and the reason;
  • the list of attached documents, date and signature.

What to attach (per the form)

  • a copy of the foreigner’s identity document issued by a government agency (usually the passport);
  • a copy of any document or proof substantiating the requested change (e.g. marriage certificate, updated company registration, employer letter);
  • the work permit itself.

The office may ask for other documents — check before filing.
