What this document is
Modelo 790 código 026 is the Spanish Ministry of Justice self-assessment form (autoliquidación) for the fee charged to process a nationality application. You pay the fee at a bank with it and attach the bank-stamped copy to your application for nationality by residence (nacionalidad por residencia).
The form is in Spanish, with three identical copies: for the authority, for the applicant and for the bank. The “carta de naturaleza for Sephardic Jews” option is still printed, but that procedure is closed — FoxDocs does not fill it in.
Who files it and where
- the foreign national applying for Spanish nationality by residence pays; for a minor, the parent or guardian does, and is then entered under “Declarante”;
- you take the form to a collecting bank (entidad colaboradora of the Tax Agency): payment is proven by the bank’s stamp or signature on the “Ejemplar para la Administración”;
- the fee can also be paid online — through the Tax Agency (AEAT) payment gateway or online banking; you then attach the receipt with the NRC number and the “Ejemplar para la Administración”;
- proof of payment must be attached when you file the nationality application; the application itself is filed as described on sede.mjusticia.gob.es — in person or online (with Cl@ve or an electronic certificate).
What the form asks
- section 1: applicant’s NIE, surnames and name, address, phone, date of birth, e-mail;
- section 2: NIE and name of the person paying — only if it is not the applicant;
- section 3: type of application — nationality by residence;
- section 4: place and date, handwritten signature;
- section 5: fee amount and payment method (cash or account debit); the account number is filled in at the bank.
What to bring
- all three copies of the form — to the bank, with the number the Ministry issued when you downloaded it;
- the applicant’s NIE and an identity document;
- after payment — the bank-stamped “Ejemplar para la Administración”, attached to the nationality application.
How to fill it in with FoxDocs
- Download your own form 790-026 from sede.mjusticia.gob.es: it has a unique number (Nº de Justificante); the chat asks for its 7 digits.
- Give the applicant’s details in the chat in any language; the assistant fills in the boxes in capitals on all three copies.
- Download the PDF, check it, print, sign and pay the fee at the bank.
