What this document is
EX-22 («Solicitud de permiso Artículo 50 TUE para trabajador fronterizo nacional del Reino Unido») is the official application form for the frontier worker document for UK nationals under the Withdrawal Agreement. The form is in Spanish and has three pages: two to fill in and one with instructions.
A frontier worker (trabajador fronterizo) is a UK national who was employed or self-employed in Spain before the end of the transition period (31 December 2020) and still works in Spain without living there. EX forms are filed only in their official layout: FoxDocs just types your details into the fields of the official PDF and does not change it.
Who files it and where
- a UK national working in Spain as an employed or self-employed frontier worker;
- step one: the application goes to the Oficina de Extranjería of the province where you work, in person or electronically;
- step two: after a favourable decision, the police issue the document under Article 26 of the Withdrawal Agreement — bring the application, passport, proof of fee payment and a photograph;
- the same form is used for a renewal, a change of details (personal, employment, address, passport) and removal when you stop working;
- check the fee amount and how to pay with the police or on the authority’s website before you go.
What the form asks for
- section 1: passport, NIE (if any), surnames, given name, sex (H/M/X), date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy), place and country of birth, nationality, marital status (S/C/V/D/Sp), parents’ names, mobile phone and e-mail, legal representative (if any); there is no home address in this section;
- section 2: employer or your own business (name and number), business activity, your occupation and the workplace address in Spain;
- section 3: representative filing the application (if someone else files it);
- section 4: address for notifications and consent to electronic notifications (DEHú);
- section 5: initial, renewal, change or removal, and the type of work — employed or self-employed;
- place, date, accuracy statement, signature and, at the bottom, the authority the application is addressed to.
Documents usually brought
- the EX-22 form, original and copy, filled in in capital letters;
- passport;
- proof that you were a frontier worker in Spain before the end of the transition period: for employees, for example, an employer’s hiring statement or an employment certificate;
- to collect the document from the police — the application, passport, proof of fee payment and a photograph;
- check the exact list for your case with the Oficina de Extranjería.
