What this document is

A short letter to the Thai Immigration Bureau (“ขอให้ย้ายตราประทับลงในหนังสือเดินทางเล่มใหม่ / Transfer stamp to new passport”) asking that the permission-to-stay stamps in your previous passport be transferred to your new passport.

This version of the form is for foreigners who have applied for residence in Thailand (การขอมีถิ่นที่อยู่) and have been permitted to stay while the application is considered. It is addressed to the Inspector of Sub-Division 1, as printed on the form.

What the form asks for

  • place and date of writing (Buddhist Era year, พ.ศ.);
  • your full name as in the passport, age and nationality;
  • previous passport: number, place of issue, date of issue and expiry;
  • new passport: number, place of issue, date of issue and expiry;
  • the reason you have a new passport (e.g. the old one expired or is full);
  • your signature — by hand.

The lower part “FOR OFFICIAL ONLY” (previous entry, last extension, date of the residence application, TM.6 number) is completed by the immigration officer, not by you.

Documents usually brought

  • the new passport and the previous passport with the Thai stamps;
  • copies of the data pages and of the pages with Thai visa and extension stamps;
  • documents relating to your pending residence application, if the office asks for them.

The exact list, any fee and the processing time are set by the immigration office — check with the office before filing.

Where and how to file

The letter is submitted to the Immigration Bureau office that handles your residence application. Office, hours and filing procedure may change — check with the office before you go.

Frequently asked questions

Who uses this form?

A foreigner who has applied for residence in Thailand, is permitted to stay while the application is considered, and has received a new passport.

Where is the letter filed?

With the Immigration Bureau office handling your residence application. Check the address and opening hours with the office.

What should I bring?

Usually both passports — the new one and the previous one with the Thai stamps — and copies of their pages. The office may ask for more.

Do I fill in the “FOR OFFICIAL ONLY” part?

No. That part is completed by the immigration officer.

Which date format is used?

The letter date uses the Buddhist Era year (2026 → 2569); passport dates are written as DD/MM/YYYY. FoxDocs formats them automatically.
