What this document is

Form BT. 36 (แบบ บต. ๓๖, Form WP. 36, "Receipt Confirmation Form for the Notification on a Foreigner Commencing the Works which can be Characterized as Necessary, Urgent, or Ad-hoc pursuant to Section 61") is a form of the Thai Department of Employment.

It is the receipt that the registrar (นายทะเบียน) issues after a foreigner notifies, on form BT. 34, that he or she has started necessary, urgent or ad-hoc work under Section 61 of the Royal Ordinance on the Management of Foreign Workers' Employment B.E. 2560. The Department publishes it as a fillable PDF, so the notifier can type in the details in advance.

Who fills it in and where

  • the details are the same as in form BT. 34: the foreigner, the employer or hirer, the place of work and the period of work;
  • the form is handed in together with BT. 34 at the Employment Office (provincial or Bangkok area) that receives the notification — check with the office whether it wants the receipt pre-filled;
  • the receipt number, date of issue and the signature, name and position of the registrar are completed by the office;
  • the form does not state a fee or deadline — check them with the office.

What the form contains

  • name, nationality and passport (or document in lieu) number of the foreigner;
  • date and place (office) of the notification;
  • the work commenced and the name of the employer or hirer;
  • address and telephone of the place of work;
  • the period of work in days, with start and end dates (urgent work under Section 61 is limited to 15 days).

Documents for the BT. 34 notification

  • form BT. 34 and 3 × 4 cm photographs;
  • a copy of the passport or document in lieu of passport and of the proof of permission to enter Thailand;
  • for a company employer — a copy of the company registration certificate; for an individual employer — a copy of his or her identity document;
  • if the foreigner or employer cannot file in person — a power of attorney with stamp duty.

The office may ask for other documents — check the full list with the Employment Office.

Frequently asked questions

What is form BT. 36?

It is the registrar's receipt confirming that the Department of Employment has been notified that a foreigner started necessary, urgent or ad-hoc work under Section 61.

How is it different from form BT. 34?

BT. 34 is the notification filed by the foreigner. BT. 36 is the receipt for that notification, issued and signed by the registrar.

Who fills it in?

The notifier can pre-fill the details from BT. 34. The number, date of issue and signature are completed by the office.

How long can urgent work last?

The form refers to Section 61; urgent or ad-hoc work notified this way is limited to 15 days. Check the details with the Employment Office.

In which language is it filled in?

The form does not mention a fee. Check with the Employment Office.
